Blush Wedding At Royal Ridge Barns | Megan & Travis | Hot Springs, AR

Driving the beautiful country roads of Arkansas, on my way to another Royal Ridge Wedding, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “I am so blessed!”

Three short years ago, I never would have imagined that I would be traveling hundreds of miles to capture precious memories for a gorgeous princess and her dream wedding. Blush flowers, navy ribbon, and sparkling decor covered the breathtaking mountainside. You could feel the love in every detail as you took in the view.

As the mother of the bride walked over, she handed me the beautiful bouquet of blush and white flowers, surrounded by lush greenery. From the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of what looked like a gold ring, carefully woven into the gorgeous arrangement. Curious, but working hard to stay on schedule, I took the bouquet, along with some other fun detail pieces, to a quiet place in the shade for some more photo magic.

As I strategically placed each precious item, I once again focused in on the ring in the midst of the bouquet. Then, I realized that this was no ordinary ring. A blazing blue stone, perfectly set in a gold band; this was obviously a vintage, men’s ring. Its compliment, a gold boxing glove lapel pin, clung to the bottom of the bouquet stem.

Now, spilling over with intrigue, I pulled the bride, Megan, aside. “Whats the story behind this ring and pin?”, I asked. With a smile on her face, she explained, “That was my daddy’s. He’s no longer with us, but I wanted him to walk me down the aisle. He has been a big part of my life and I wanted him to be a part of our day.”

I could see a tear twinkling in her eye as she reached out to give her mama a hug. An embrace that seemed to stop time in its tracks, as they prepared to walk down the aisle together.

As the ceremony began, the most prestigious seat sat quietly reserved for a daddy who obviously loved his little girl more than anything in the world. From this day forward, that love would be bound up in the hearts of this precious bride and groom. Looking down at her handwritten vows, Megan repeated to Travis the same lines that her parents had promised to one another so many years ago. At that moment, I looked over at her mama, who, with a tear in her eye, reminisced about the love that she shared with the man to whom the seat beside her was reserved. I could see her smile through her tears as she dreamt of how their legacy of love would now be carried on for years to come.

In that magical moment, you could feel the love….in every detail, every word, and every smile. I cannot begin to adequately explain the joy that radiated throughout the day. It was almost as if her daddy was there with us, proudly smiling and whispering through tears, “You’ll always be my little girl.”
