Can I share a little life hack that has done wonders for not only my business but my personal life as well? Great! Let’s dive on in because I don’t want you wasting any more time! This thing called batching changed my outlook on my everyday to-do list. Now, what is batching?

To batch is to group alike tasks together, allowing you to accomplish more in a less about of time.

Benefits of Batching

  1. Not scrambling trying to get all the things done

  2. Being able to accomplish more in a less amount of time

  3. Less stress

  4. More flexibility

How To Start Batching

Depending on what works best for you and your everyday, you can either batch monthly, bi-weekly or weekly. For me, weekly works best due to my schedule.

1. Pick A Specific Day To Sit Down With Your Calendar + Focus On Your Priorities

For me it’s every Sunday evening after the boys are in bed and I can give this my undivided attention. I’ve noticed that at the first of the week, I can conquer Mondays and the rest of the week a lot easier if I already have it planned out.

Pro Tip - sticking with the same day each week will create a routine, which turns into a habit, a good habit that is!

2. Create Routines

Routines are key. Writing them down to put in front of you is even better! Over all you’re body functions better, plus this will create a happier, more joyful environment for everyone you’re working with and your family because they’ll know what to expect.

Morning Routine Example:

  • Stretch

  • Make Some Coffee

  • Start A Load of Laundry

  • Bible Reading + Meditate

  • Journal or Brain Dump

  • Empty Dishwasher

  • Get Ready For The Day

  • Check Your Schedule For Todays Tasks + Add To It If Needed

Evening Routine Example:

  • Clean Up Kitchen From Dinner

  • Tidy Up House (15 minutes)

  • Lay Kids Outfits Out For School

  • Check Planner For Next Day + Add Tasks If Needed

  • Relax Time With Spouse

  • Get Ready For Bed

Pro Tip - Try to avoid your phone until a certain time or until your morning routine is done. This is something I’ve been practicing lately and I’ve noticed the longer I go without checking my phone, especially social media, the more creativity pours out and that’s where the good stuff lays! Also I’m not getting sucked into the time wasting trap of scrolling, which is SO EASY TO DO!

3. Make A List Of All Tasks That Are Must Dos + Ones That You’re Wanting To Accomplish

Once you have your planner, phone or whatever you’re using to keep track of your schedule, write in all the appointments and meetings that can not be moved. Once those are all in place, fill in your “going out activities” around the can not be moved activities.

Then schedule all at home activities together. You can even assign specific tasks to specific days.

Examples -

  • Cleaning

  • Meal Planning

  • Content Writing

  • Social Media Scheduling

  • Responding To Emails

Pro Tip - If you’re already dressed and ready to go out, don’t bother wasting time doing it again another day because you forgot bananas, if all possible, wait and place that task on the next “going out” day.

4. If You Can To Two Things At Once, That’s A Double Win!

Now being a wife, momma to two boys and a business owner, I’m ALL about saving time and doing two things at once if all possible!

For Examples -

  • While the laundry is washing or drying clean the kitchen

  • As we cook dinner, lets load the dishwasher as we’re done with whatever we’re using

  • Driving down the road to your next destination, turn on a podcast or book

  • Organize your purse while watching your favorite tv show

  • Use Siri and voice record your next blog into the notes app as you’re getting ready for the day
