Fall-ing in Love at Royal Ridge Forest Creek
Cloudy Fall skies and beautifully colored leaves made a perfect backdrop for an even better day. As bridesmaids wrapped up finishing touches and groomsmen, well, the groomsmen did what groomsmen do, you could feel the anticipation in the air.
Yet, amongst all the hustle and bustle of last minute wedding preparations, on a table to the side, sat a quaint wooden box. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, the box bore on its top an inscription for the one’s to whom it would belong, “Daniel and Megan October 20, 2017”. On its front, the outline of a heart. However, it was not the exterior aesthetics that held the box’s significance.
Nestled inside were two handwritten notes and a bottle of wine. Each note, one addressed to author of the other, contained a testament to the couple’s undying affection and their commitment to a love that would last a lifetime. And then there was the wine. A red blend from the vineyards of Northern California, the wine represented a love that would only get sweeter with time.
The lazy sun bowed behind a silhouette of trees as the ceremony began. The skyline of colors paled in comparison to the magical moment when the anxious groom locked eyes with his gorgeous bride. His tears barely hanging on, he watched her gracefully make her way down the aisle. Finally, they took each other’s hands. “You're beautiful”, he whispered as she smiled and replied, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
For a moment, we all witnessed time stand still, the wonder only interrupted by the words of the Officiant, as he turned the attention to the small wooden box. “In the days to come, if you fall upon difficult times, remember this small wooden box. Take the key, open the lid, and let it transport you back to this day. Read your letters. Let them remind you of just how much you love the person standing in front of you today and of just how fiercely you are loved by them. Then, together, enjoy a glass of this wine. With each sip, may you both renew your commitment to a bond that endures every test and a love that only gets sweeter with time.”
