Lessons Learned From Moving

The most comment question I’ve been asked since moving to back to Arkansas after being away for almost two years is…

“How are you adjusting to moving back? Really.”

To be honest, there’s been the up’s and there’s been the downs, just as there is in anything in life. You’re going to have your good days and your not so good days. But that doesn’t mean you quit, give up or focus on the negative.

Right?

So because I’m more of the glass is half full type of gal I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned through this season of being a mompreneur and trying to balance all the things. You know, like -- wife, mom, laundry, cooking, keeping up with social media posts and marketing your business.

Normal things, right?? Okay, here we go...

1. Every season is different

Just like spring, summer, fall and winter, the seasons of life aren’t always going to look the same. There’s a time to plant, a time to sow, then water and watch it grow. Whatever “it” may be for you.

And friend, please don’t compare your season to your girl next door on Instagram because that’s her life in whatever season God has her in. I’ll be honest with you that this is a struggle of mine. The more I’ve opened up about this to a few girl friends much like yourself, I’ve found I’m not alone. It’s a common struggle although I want to encourage you, this is just a 1 minute filtered highlight reel of a whole 24 hour day. So, no worries sister! You’re not the only one that doesn’t have a every-waking-hour-picture-perfect life.

2. Know your priorities

Really spending time to figure out what your top 3-5 priorities in your life, then double checking you calendar to make sure the line up is a game changer!

3. Scheduling is your best friend

Piggybacking on the point above, scheduling is KEY to putting your priorities in place.

Start with a blank month >>

  • Take your 1st priority and block off time that is a non negotiable to really make that your number one priority.

  • Next grab your 2nd priority then block time off for it.

  • Then so on and so forth

Doing this exercise each month will ultimately allow you to live a more intentional life, be a happier women and give the best parts of yourself to others. All because you’re living out your everyday with purpose!

4. There’s always room for grace

For all the fellow perfectionists out there this will be hard, but sister, give yourself grace! The same way we are shown grace by Christs love, we need to be a little easier on ourselves and I’m right there with ya girl. But together, we can encourage be encouraged that we’re all in this together.

As the quote goes… “A rising tide lifts all the boats.”
