3 Things That Shifted My Business in 2022

Every year I take time to write out my biggest goals and wildest dreams and journal about them. (I’m a huge goal setter, typical enneagram 3!) Not long ago, I took a moment to reflect on my 2022 goals. I was shocked at what I had written at the beginning of the year.

Want a look? (yes, I write my goals in a google doc, haha!)

Three tools that helped me achieve those goals without realizing what a difference it would make were…

>>> self-care

>>> outsourcing

>>> staying focused

SELF CARE

When I first heard the term “self-care” I immediately thought of getting my nails done and shopping without a husband or kids in tow. As much as I love those moments, I am talking about therapy.

To give my business my best self, I had to get some things in order internally. I decided that 2022 was going to be the year that I invested in myself to help me become a better wife, mother, friend, and business owner.

This was the BEST decision I have ever made in my life.

My therapist has been a godsend, helping me dive into some mindset and blocks I have been having. She told me early on “Self-care isn’t always getting your hair or nails done. For you, it’s taking time to say no so you can just rest and be.”

I have taken that to heart and decided to delegate some of my photography business tasks that take up a little more time than I have on a regular day.

OUTSOURCING

Outsourcing has been a HUGE game changer in my business!

Last year I knew I could not sustain the number of clients I had coming in all by myself. I told my husband, Keith, that if I was going to continue HPC (which of course I would) but something had to change.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and hired my first team member, a photo editor.

This is such a huge time saver and a game-changer for HCP! She has made the turnaround time for galleries so much faster. This improved client experience so each client does not have to anxiously wait for their family photos to be sent to them.

It used to take me weeks or months to send a gallery to my clients, not that time is cut in half! Having someone edit my photos has taken so much work off of my plate to allow me to serve many more clients.

My second hire was my sweet friend, Katelynn. She is my blog writer, helping me put my thoughts into words and keeping me up to date on my blogs.

Katelynn has allowed me to verbally document so many beautiful families in their special moments. We have collaborated together to create some fun and informative resources coming in 2023 that can take your passion to the next level turning your passion into a profit.

Whether you’re a mom, business owner, or want to expand your hobby, these will be some excellent resources for you to have!

STAYING FOCUSED

Keeping my eyes on my own business is something that I struggle with.

I struggle with comparison and what others are doing in their business. Which at times is good to help me get new ideas but after time I end up doubting myself and comparing their business to my own.

A silent goal I set for myself was to unfollow those on social media who I would compare myself to. This would put me in a bad mental space due to comparing my business to others. This was another game changer!

By keeping my focus on my business and the calling God has on my life was a HUGE step in the right direction. I believe this helped me to be able to serve more families, spend time with my family and have my biggest income year to date!!

I am excited to see what 2023 has in store for me and Hannah Capps Photography! Stay tuned for what my goals are for 2023!
